My passion for nursing was sparked when my great grandmother suffered from a Stroke. We cared for my nanny Gwen for many years at home. When she was ill, I met some incredible nurses. I was inspired by the difference they made in our family. I wanted a career that was built on helping people and families. Nanny actually recovered from that stroke and had a few more years. She lived to be 94.
I believe the care she received had a lot to do with that.
I attended Lakefield Highschool, then onto Fleming College where I graduated as an RPN. I then studied Oncology at Lambton, Palliative Care with De Souza.
I spent several years working in a telemedicine clinic, which is nurse lead. I spent much of my time advocating for patient services. Listening and understanding concerns. I had this overwhelming sense of needing to do more in my community.
Our population of elderly is one of the highest in Canada. There are so many people without doctors. There are so many without advocates. That is why I decided to start Kawartha Complete Care.
I want every person who we work with to know what CARE means.
